What to expect when you start.
Therapy can feel like a leap. We wrote this page for the person who is not quite ready to book yet, the person who is just trying to figure out what they would be walking into. If that is you, read on.
First contact.
You send us a message through the contact form or call (647) 933-6610. Tell us as much or as little as feels right. Some people write a paragraph. Some write a sentence. Both are fine.
We respond within 24-48 hours during business days. If you mention a specific therapist on the team, we will check their availability first.
Match & consultation.
Based on what you share, we recommend the therapist on our team who is the best fit. If you move forward with an Associate Therapist, the consultation is $45 for 30 minutes.
The consultation is informal. You share what you are looking for, ask any questions, and see if it feels right. There is no commitment.
First session.
50 minutes. Virtual, via secure PHIPA-compliant video. From anywhere in Canada.
Your therapist will probably start with some logistics, confidentiality, fees, how cancellations work. Then they will ask what brought you in. You do not need to have a polished answer. "I do not know, I am just struggling" is a complete answer.
You will leave with a sense of who your therapist is, and (often) one or two ideas of what to track or try before next time.
Ongoing sessions.
Most clients start weekly. Some move to bi-weekly after a few months. Some stay weekly. There is no fixed length of therapy, some people are ready to wrap up in 8-12 sessions, others stay for years.
Your therapist will check in regularly about your progress and goals. You can change cadence, take a break, or finish whenever you want.
If something is not working.
Tell us. We would rather know than have you quietly stop showing up. We can adjust the approach, switch therapists, or talk through what is getting in the way.
The therapeutic relationship is the single biggest predictor of whether therapy helps. Protecting it is part of the work.
